M: Yes, a little.
P: Great. Could you help me with this form please.
M: Sure, I’ll try.
P: What should I write here?
M: You need to write your own name and address there.
P: Great, thanks very much.
M: No problem.

M: Do you remember what the special day is next Wednesday?
P: Is it your birthday?
M: No, silly. It’s White Day! Remember, you have to buy return gifts for everyone who gave you Valentines chocolate!
P: That’s right! I forgot. What should I buy them?
M: Nothing big, but some nice cookies or chocolates would be good.
P: Where can I get nice stuff?
M: Oh, lots of places have White Day gifts on sale just now, so go shopping, and make sure you don’t forget anyone.
P: I’ll try. You didn’t buy me a valentines gift, so I don’t need to get you anything, do I!
M: You don’t need to, but I’m always happy to get a present!

P: I saw a very interesting TV show last week. It was on NHK World.
M: What was the show?
P: It was all about Takada. A foreigner came to see the place. He was most interested in the covered walkways.
M: The “gangi”! They are very special here in Joetsu.
P: It was interesting to see inside some of the beautiful “Machiya” buildings.
M: Is it in English?
P: Yes, but lots of the speaking is done in Japanese, with English subtitles.
M: So we can learn about our local area, and study English at the same time! Great.
P: Isn’t that what we do in this corner?
